Welcome to Give Deb Hope

Meet Deb.... Deb (Jewell) Golczynski is a wife and mother who has lived with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) for over 31 years. She was diagnosed with Secondary Progressive MS in 2003. With MS, the body's immune system attacks a person's central nervous system, affecting the ability of nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord to communicate with each other. In Deb’s case, she has watched this terrible disease slowly take away her ability to walk across a room. Since 2007 Deb has been forced to rely on a wheelchair for mobility. It has not been easy for her or her family, but Deb has not complained, and more importantly, has not given up. Now Deb has the opportunity to continue her fight against MS, but she needs your help!

The Treatment.... No conventional therapy performed in the United States has stopped Deb’s MS from continuing its progress, but stem cell therapy performed by doctors overseas has shown promise in stopping the disease’s progression and possibly even reversing some of the damage already done. The stem cell treatments take approximately one month to administer with returns for follow up monitoring. The stem cell implantation procedure will be done with some of Deb’s own adult stem cells, along with stem cells taken from a donor’s umbilical cord cells. No embryonic stem cells are used in the procedure. For more detailed information about the procedure and the hope it offers people like Deb visit More About MS.

The Cost.... The cost of this treatment, none of which is covered by health insurance, will be approximately $60,000. Sixty thousand dollars is a small amount to spend to halt or potentially reverse the course of this disease in Deb’s body, but it is a huge amount for Deb and her family-- a family struggling like many families in Western Michigan with layoffs and unemployment. The money raised will cover the treatment for a two month stay of therapy, expenses to Panama as well as care and housing while she is there.

What Can You Do?

Your donation of money, time, or talent could make the difference in Deb’s life. If you lived your life in a wheelchair would you be willing to give up less than $4 a day for one month for a chance to get out of that chair? That’s the small sacrifice that you would have to make to donate just $100 to potentially change Deb’s life. If you are fortunate enough to consider a larger contribution, that would be most appreciated. If you are not able to make a $100 donation on your own, consider getting together with family or friends to make a group contribution or consider forwarding this information to people who are in a position to help. Thank you for your help. Together we can change Deb’s life.
